Reconnect at Lakeside Chautauqua

In our fast-paced world full of modern conveniences, many families are searching for a unique destination to rest, renew and reconnect with loved ones. Aren’t you?

Since 1873, Lakeside Chautauqua has welcomed families to the Lake Erie shore to take part in a Chautauqua experience dedicated to nurturing mind, body and spirit. The experience is a step back in time to a place where values, traditions and family remain the focus.

A Year-Round Escape

There is no place quite like Lakeside Chautauqua. It is an historic, Chautauqua community conveniently located between Cleveland and Toledo, Ohio. Lakeside is a year-round destination that provides rest and renewal experiences for groups of all ages and sizes. Many couples, families and retreats take the opportunity to reconnect during the peaceful months of fall, winter and spring. A variety of accommodations are also offered year-round.

During the summer programming season, Lakeside offers an abundance of spiritual opportunities, educational lectures, arts performances and recreational activities. Quaint shopping and unique restaurants further complete the experience.

Living the Lakeside Chautauqua Mission

It is our mission to “enrich the quality of life for all people, to foster traditional Christian values and to nurture relationships through opportunities for renewal and growth –spiritually, intellectually, culturally and physically – while preserving Lakeside’s heritage.”

Lakeside Chautauqua is a unique experience for each individual. We invite you to experience our Chautauqua community this summer in your own way; reconnect with family, renew spiritually, expand intellectually, unleash you creativity or challenge yourself physically. The opportunities are endless. You will soon realize why Lakeside Chautauqua has remained an annual tradition for generations of families.

Here’s What Our Friends have to Say

“Lakeside is a place where children and parents share precious times together, with lifetime memories to always remember. It’s a wonderful place to be with family and friends. We need more places like this in today’s world.” – Paul Bock

“Lakeside is a combination of ‘Mayberry,’ ‘Leave It to Beaver’ and a Norman Rockwell painting. A place on this Earth where family and Christian values are still priorities.” – Lisa Dunlop

“The magic of Lakeside is that it brings people to the realization of what is truly important – family, friendship, love, relationships, beauty, nature, music, traditions, laughter, rest, spirit, prayer, faith, hope… Lakeside reveals the overall beauty of life as God intended it to be.” – Jennifer Ginger Mathews-Santulli

“Lakeside is like it used to be. It’s a small town. It’s safe. You can walk from your house to the shops and walk along the waterfront. It’s peaceful. People are friendly. It’s the kind of place that I wish more towns were still like. I wish my visits there were longer, and I never had to leave.” – Drew Taylor

“When I leave Lakeside a part of me stays behind, and when I return my heart is fuller.” – Gwen Swigart Nichols

“Lakeside is so hard to describe! I’ve told my friends it is a great place for families, relaxing, safe for kids, full of choices with all the great activities. Or, just a wonderful place to do nothing but simply appreciate the moment.” – Lisa Brucken

  1. I am anxious to read what you and other Lakesiders post on this blog, but first let me commend you on its title. The Front Porch seems so perfect a name as the welcome mat for newcomers and old-timers alike renewing their experiences and relationships at Lakeside. I know there are hundreds of front porches throughout the village that serve as well as the grand porch of the Hotel Lakeside. And for me and my family, the cottage front porch is precisely where we enjoy our “together time.” We place as many chairs out on the porch as we can fit because they fill up fast. Some of us pass through the front porch on the way to other Lakeside destinations and adventures, but many just use our porch to relax and enjoy the view while cherished friends and relatives join us in the communal decompression that defines the Lakeside lifestyle. So again, congratulations on finding the perfect symbol for this blog. I may just stay awhile longer than I planned.
