Sunday Spotlight: Lakeside Leadership Academy – Marketing

Lakeside Chautauqua welcomed 14 Lakeside Leadership Academy (LLA) interns to the grounds in early May. Since then, they have been hard at work experiencing Lakeside, taking on challenges and advancing new projects within their work environments.

We would like to introduce this summer’s Marketing/Digital Communications Intern and Journalism/Newspaper Editor Interns to the Lakeside community.

Why did you want to intern at Lakeside Chautauqua?

I wanted to work at Lakeside Chautauqua in the LLA program because of my very first internship with Lakeside. This past winter, I had the privilege of working as Lakeside’s Virtual Marketing Intern. Unfortunately, I worked exclusively online and never had the opportunity to experience the community first-hand.

During my time as the Virtual Marketing Intern, I learned about the LLA program and discovered that Lakeside offered a summer internship similar to my current position. During the winter, I got to hear all about the community and how beautiful it was, so I knew I had to apply. Once I got the official offer to join the LLA team this summer, I couldn’t pass it up.

What’s your greatest accomplishment at work, so far?

So far, my greatest accomplishment would have to be learning to work a large digital camera. Slowly, I am beginning to build my photography skills, which is definitely a plus.

What are you looking forward to doing most this summer at Lakeside?

I am most looking forward to connecting with all the interns in the LLA class. Lakeside is a completely new experience for us – exploring Lakeside together has been so much fun so far, and I can’t wait to get to know them and the community more.

Where do you see yourself in 10-15 years?

In 10-15 years I see myself as an Account Director for an advertising agency. I can dream, right?

Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

I’ve never broken any bones (knock on wood).

Why did you want to intern at Lakeside Chautauqua?

When I first had my phone interview, I felt like the Lakeside staff wanted to learn every little detail about me, which was great. After I came to Lakeside for my face-to-face interview, met some of the staff members and saw the area [even in the dull winter], I fell in love. The Lakeside Leadership Academy enhances professional and personal skills, and I knew right away that Lakeside Chautauqua would be a great first internship for me.

What’s your greatest accomplishment at work, so far?

My greatest accomplishment at work so far is adjusting to the “big girl” hours of 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. every day of the week. It was difficult at first and naps after work were much needed, but now I’m doing just fine.

What are you looking forward to doing most this summer at Lakeside?

I’m looking forward to being on the lake all summer and enjoying the various activities Lakeside has to offer. I really want to learn how to sail.

Where do you see yourself in 10-15 years?

In 10-15 years I see myself working for ESPN.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
