God’s Love in Action

In Lakeside, we can see God’s love in action everywhere we look. Nature’s beauty surrounds us and inspires us. Families come together to renew and refresh. Friendships are strengthened; children are encouraged; arts and music flourish. We are grateful to be able to thrive in such a magnificent environment.

Yet we are called to be part of something bigger, something better, something beyond our understanding.

Accepted as we are, we journey together on our way toward a future that holds new challenges, new questions and new hope for our world.

Our scripture today shares:

“I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.”  – Philippians 3:12-14, The Message

If we are lucky enough to be here in Lakeside, even for a little while, we are lucky enough to be in a place where we can spread peace, light and love.

We are called to do God’s work right here, every day – to grow, and to help others grow, as we seek to be the kind of people we are called to be.

Finding Spiritual Direction

Chip Richter tells us in one of his delightful tunes, “You’ll never be lost in Lakeside if you know this song.” The rhythm then picks up, and Chip sings the names of all the “tree” streets (plus Central!) beginning with Oak and proceeding to Poplar. It’s true—if you can remember Chip’s song, you can find […]
