Devotional: Deuteronomy 2:7

Staff Blogger: Dan Dudley, Lakeside Chautauqua Chief Financial Officer

What do you need?

“For the LORD your God has blessed you in all that you have done; He has known your wanderings through this great wilderness. These forty years the LORD your God has been with you; you have not lacked a thing.”

– Deuteronomy 2:7

The Israelites had wondered in the wilderness for forty years, yet they were blessed. God provided food, water, shelter, clothing and inspiration every day of those forty years.

Sometimes we feel lost in the wilderness.

Sometimes we feel overwhelmed with the bustle of the world.

Sometimes we feel alone.

Sometimes we confuse “wants” for “needs,” and wonder why God does not answer our prayers.

In Deuteronomy, we see a people who have nothing (especially when compared to today’s standards). How would we feel if we were in the same situation? Blessed?

“And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

– Philippians 4:19

At Lakeside Chautauqua, you may have the opportunity to view the world in a different way, at a different pace. Take the opportunity to reflect; be quiet. Look at the sky, the waves and the smiling faces. Listen to the waves crashing against the rocks, the birds singing in the trees and children laughing in the park.

Know that you are blessed. We do not lack a thing.

Feel blessed. Take that feeling home and share it with others.

Finding Spiritual Direction

It’s true—if you can remember Chip’s song, you can find […]
