Sunday Spotlight: Lakeside Leadership Academy – Advancement

Lakeside Chautauqua welcomed 14 Lakeside Leadership Academy (LLA) interns to the grounds in early May. Since then, they have been hard at work experiencing Lakeside, taking on challenges and advancing new projects within their work environments.

We would like to introduce the Lakeside community to this summer’s Advancement Communications Intern and Advancement Events Intern.

Meet the LLA Advancement interns:

Why did you want to intern at Lakeside Chautauqua?

I wanted find an internship where I could work for a good cause and gain professional experience.  When I discovered the internship program project here at Lakeside, I applied right away. My family and I have been coming to Lakeside since I was a kid, and I’ve always wanted to spend a whole summer here!

What’s your greatest accomplishment at work, so far?

So far, the Fund Run we had Memorial Day weekend was my greatest accomplishment. It was the first event I worked on for this internship, and it went very well! We had a great turn out, had a successful fundraiser, and nothing caught on fire—I count that as a success!

What are you looking forward to doing most this summer at Lakeside?

I’m looking forward to just being here at Lakeside! There are so many exciting activities and events going on within the gates, and I’ve got great company this summer too—all the interns are so fun and friendly.

Where do you see yourself in 10-15 years?

In a decade, I hope to be living in spacious loft apartment in Nashville, TN, with my husband.  I’ll be working for the Nashville NPR station, and together we will raise our two adorable children.  On the weekends, our family folk band will be regular performers at the Bluebird Café.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

I love making collages. I am constantly collecting interesting scraps of paper and stickers to include in my next collage.
