What do you love most about Lakeside?

I love playing a part in the memories people make at Lakeside. The logistics of a show going off without a hitch can be tedious. Seeing people dancing or singing along at a Hoover concert, and knowing I helped make that happen, is one of the best feelings.

What are you looking forward to doing most this summer at Lakeside?

Taking walks along Ohio’s Most Beautiful Mile.

How do you live the mission of Lakeside every day?

The programming that I help facilitate is at the core of nurturing mind, body and spirit. I try to do all of this with kindness and a smile for my colleagues and guests.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

My parents met at Lakeside. I also met my husband working at Lakeside. We were married in Perry Park in September 2012. It’s like a family tradition.

Hometown: Deshler, Ohio (currently living in Bloomington, Illinois)

Years at Lakeside: 21

What do you love most about Lakeside?

I love being able to walk to places instead of having to get in the car all the time. I love talking to my neighbors instead of turning on the television. I love the sounds of Lakeside that tell the time for me so I don’t have to wear a watch: 5:45 a.m. the birds start singing; at 9 a.m. the shuffleboard discs begin making their characteristic clicking sounds; the pavilion carillon tolls the quarter-hours and plays a hymn or tune at the top of each hour.

What are you looking forward to doing most this summer at Lakeside?

I look forward to getting out of the routine of housework, errands, commitments and appointments and into a routine of taking each day as it comes. The Rhein Center is a new place every day of the summer. It’s easy to relax and enjoy life as it happens when I’m surrounded by art and artistic activity.

How do you live the mission of Lakeside every day?

I try to practice hospitality and neighborliness to everyone I encounter. It’s pretty easy to practice because it’s part of the Lakeside culture. When I leave Lakeside in the fall, that habit that’s been cultivated over the summer is harder to maintain, but I try to take it home with me to my neighborhood in Illinois.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

I was the first one in my family to drive (really fast!) across Germany on the Autobahn. My husband is a fantastic map reader/navigator, my daughter is fluent in German and I love driving standard transmission cars in foreign countries. We’re a great traveling team!
