Devotional: Revelation 7:9-10

Hilty MemorialThere are so many kinds of flowers and plants that create a beautiful garden in The Memorial Garden at Chautauqua Park.

The vibrant, yellow flowers, mixed with pale purple flowers, are surrounded by shades of green and pure white flowers, creating a beautiful tapestry.

The butterflies find peace dancing over all these beauties.  By the end of the summer, 17 loved ones’ ashes have been placed in the garden.

“Every saint in heaven is as a flower in the garden of God, and every soul there is as a note in some concert of delightful music.” – Jonathan Edwards, American Theologian

These individuals – spouses, mothers, fathers, grandparents, grown children, aunts, uncles and friends –made the community vibrant, authentic, genuine and grounded in love.

“After I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and languages, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white and held palm branches in their hands.” – Revelation 7:9-10

We gathered to celebrate the life of each of these wonderful and special people.

On this All Saints’ weekend, how do you remember those whom you have loved who have entered Eternal Life? Is there a special candle you light in worship, a meaningful song that you sing, or a place in that you return to remember that loved one?

Lakeside offers the beauty of The Memorial Garden at Chautauqua Park as a living memorial for everyone.  Come and enjoy a walk in the garden, and let us know how you will spend All Saints’ weekend.

It’s true—if you can remember Chip’s song, you can find […]
