Lakeside Chautauqua Winter Walks
“There once was a man, his name was John, sent by God to point the way to the Life-Light. He came to show everyone where to look, who to believe in. John was not himself the Light; he was there to show the way to the Light.” – John 1:6-8
Each Christmas break, my three girls put on their boots, wrap up in their winter coats, slip on their gloves and select their favorite hats for a Christmas walk through Lakeside Chautauqua. They always wish for lots of snow during this time.
Every now and then, we get up super early to walk Ohio’s Most Beautiful Mile and watch the sunrise in Perry Park. You know that spot, where you can see the twinkle across the lake. In the winter, it sparkles off the snow even more.
This moment reminds me of John the Baptist helping us to see the Life-Light. These walks slow the pace, allow us to appreciate our family and friends and give time for reflection so that Christ can guide our life.
Winter walks in Lakeside are cold, but are special and important year-round. They bring me closer to Christ.
How do you find the Life-Light during the season of Christmas? How do you guide others to the Life- Light, Jesus Christ?
Remember a family member or a dear friend who has helped guide you, and send a special note or Christmas card to that person this year.
Share with us, your Lakeside community, what activities, experiences, worship services or special events have helped guide you in life.
Prayer: Lord, Thank you for the Light of this season. Help us not only to see the Light, but to share the Light so that others may know the Christ of Christmas and the world may celebrate the gift of Peace. Amen
