Volunteers Give the Gift of Time

This holiday season, we give thanks for the many volunteers who give Lakeside a “special present” year in and year out by volunteering countless hours to help Lakeside’s mission come alive.

This year, more than 100 Lakesiders have displayed their pride and commitment to the community through countless volunteer hours.

During this time of year, you might be giving presents to family and friends or receiving presents from loved ones and co-workers. However, Lakeside volunteers provide so many different and unique “presents” by dedicating their time, talents and treasures to the community.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ report released in early 2014, 25.4%, or 62.6 million people, volunteer at least once per year.

Volunteering at Lakeside is a rewarding and life-changing experience. Our Lakeside volunteers play a vital role in the quality of the Chautauqua program and experience, and we are grateful for their support.

In the spring, they assist with the beautification of the grounds during Spring Cleanup Day. Volunteers maintain Lakeside’s many gardens in the summer months and teach children to sail for the first time at Kids Setting Sail.

In the fall, Lakesiders return to Lake Erie to assist with the operations of the Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival.

We cannot forget the expertise the Lakeside Board members bring to each quarterly meeting. These are just a few of the ways volunteers make an impact at Lakeside all year.

We would like to thank our volunteers for being our “present” each year, especially this holiday season.
