Planning a Dream Wedding at Lakeside Chautauqua

Bride and Groom close up - Peck“Standing in front of the gazebo when I was 9 years old, I told my mom, ‘this is where I am going to get married,’” said Elizabeth (Adams) Peck.

The first time the Adams family visited Lakeside, was to pick up Elizabeth’s brother from the East Ohio Youth Annual Conference in 1993.

The family immediately fell in love with the community and has visited every summer since.

Fast forward, and Elizabeth became engaged to Kyle Peck and needed to choose a venue for their special day. Elizabeth’s dream of getting married at the gazebo would now come true.

Lakeside already held a special place in her heart, and adding memories of their wedding made Lakeside a place that will forever be dear to the couple and their family as it continues to grow.

“I wanted to introduce the community to my friends and family and make it fun weekend event,” shared Elizabeth.

The grounds and views along the Lake Erie shore made an excellent backdrop for wedding photos.

“I’ve always wanted to take pictures at all of my favorite Lakeside spots,” she said.

The couple wanted their wedding to be a destination wedding, and the Chautauqua community offered the perfect getaway.

Elizabeth and Kyle took advantage of all Lakeside and the surrounding area had to offer.

Elizabeth’s mother, Molly, hosted a bridal tea for the bridesmaids at the Rainbow Guest House & Tea Room. The couple also used the Rainbow Guest House & Tea Room on the wedding day to welcome guests as they arrived with lemonade and cookies.

Many family members arrived the Wednesday prior to the wedding, allowing for a trip to Cedar Point and a fishing charter.

For the wedding day, the couple arranged for Lakeside Coffee & Cream to offer ice cream cones and coffee for guests.

“They [Lakeside Coffee & Cream] went above and beyond by designing coupons to attach to the programs and having welcome signs at the door,” said Elizabeth.

Guests were able to walk around the grounds while enjoying their ice cream.

Elizabeth shared that many of the guests found Lakeside to be unique and quaint.

Sypherd Cycles & Rental Center rented golf carts to the bridal party and allowed the golf carts to be decorated.

To accommodate parking needs for the wedding guests, the couple utilized the parking lot available at Danbury High School and shuttled guests down to Lakeside.

The gate attendants graciously welcomed the guests, and their excitement added joy to the special day.

The bridal party stayed in a suite at Hotel Lakeside the night before the wedding and used the room to prepare on the day of the wedding.

The vintage setting allowed for some wonderful photo opportunities prior to and during the ceremony.

Guests also stayed at Hotel Lakeside and some of the couple’s family rented a cottage along Kenton Row.

The Director of Conference & Event Planning, Amber Schlering, worked closely with the bride and her mother to plan the wedding and make sure the wedding day went smoothly.

“Lakeside helped make my dreams come true. They were gracious and kind to me, my family and my bridal party,” shared Elizabeth. “They truly seemed to go out their way to make the day as perfect as possible.”

Having her father meet her at the bottom of the stairs outside the Hotel Lakeside Dining Room & Café allowed for a special father-daughter moment as he walked Elizabeth through Central Park to the gazebo.

“The day was everything I had ever hoped it would be, and my husband and I will continue to enjoy summers at Lakeside, knowing that this is where it all began,” said Elizabeth.

Lakeside Chautauqua hosts hundreds of groups year-round, including youth groups, weddings, family reunions, birthday parties, anniversaries, church groups and business retreats.
