Lakeside Chautauqua Introduces New Tiered Parking Fee Structure for 2015

To help with congested parking and continue our high safety standards on the grounds, Lakeside Chautauqua will introduce a tiered parking fee structure this summer.

A Daily Auto Pass is required for Memorial Day weekend (May 22-25), the Bonus Weekend (May 29-31) and during the Chautauqua summer season (June 20-Sept. 7).

This year, a Daily Auto Pass (inside the gates) will be $10; a Daily Auto Pass (at the South Gate Parking Lot) will be $5; and a Daily Auto Pass (at the Danbury School Parking Lot during limited dates) will be $1. All parking is based on availability.

At Danbury School, guests are encouraged to park in the east parking lot near the gas station or the west parking lot near the football field this summer. The west lot entrance, west of the football field and along the tree line, will be open this summer. The middle entrance, between the football stadium and the school, will be closed due to renovations. The last day for parking at the Danbury School lot is Sunday, Aug. 30.

A Season Auto Pass purchased by May 31 will be $145 and after June 1 will be $165.

The Lakeside Board of Directors approved this tiered parking fee structure as part of the Strategic Plan’s third goal: To assure Lakeside is a safe, healthy and aesthetically-pleasing community.

Over the years, the Board has received and reviewed guests’ comments regarding parking, and for this year, the Board provided suggestions on implementing a tiered parking fee structure.

The main goal of the tiered parking fee structure is to encourage guests to park in the South Parking Lot and the Danbury High School Parking Lot at discounted rates, taking advantage of the complimentary golf cart shuttle service offered once inside the gates.

During the summer season, the shuttles operate from 7 a.m.-11 p.m.

The shuttles run a route from the Welcome Center (near the South Gate Parking Lot), to the Shuffleboard Courts (Second Street and Central Avenue Crosswalk), Hotel Lakeside (150 Maple Avenue entrance), Fountain Inn (Maple Avenue entrance), Hoover Auditorium (corner of Third Street and Walnut Avenue) and back to the Welcome Center. The shuttle service also stops at Chautauqua Park (at the corner of Poplar Avenue and Sixth Street), Fifth Street Gate and the Second Street East Gate upon request.

There is no need to call for a shuttle, simply go to one of the stops to catch a shuttle as it makes its rounds (every 15 minutes). All shuttles are marked with an orange flag. Please note that pets are not permitted on the shuttles.

The shuttles stops are marked with a sign and also noted on the Lakeside Campus Maps and map kiosks, located at the Welcome Center, Lakeside Chautauqua Administration Office, Central Park and on the corner of Second Street and Maple Avenue.

Lakeside Campus Maps are available at the Welcome Center, Lakeside Chautauqua Administration Office, Hotel Lakeside, Fountain Inn and various businesses across campus.

Guests are encouraged to review the tiered parking fee structure and shuttle information on the Lakeside Chautauqua website before their visit, at www.lakesideohio.com/passes.
