Inaugural Kaleidoscope of Color Run brings excitement to Bonus Weekend

Lakesiders of all ages are invited to participate in the inaugural Kaleidoscope of Color Run/Walk at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 30 in the open field near the Williams Tennis Campus.

Kaleidoscopes are known for their reflective presence of multiple patterns and bright colors that captivate the eye. During the three-mile run/walk, various colors of powder will be tossed at different course locations, changing white clothes into a kaleidoscope of color.

Lakesiders are encouraged to wear disposable, white clothing and prepare for vibrant morning run/walk.

Because participants’ hair, skin and clothes will capture the excitement of this event, all are encouraged to: wear a bandana or headband to protect hair; wear sunglasses to protect eyes; apply oil (coconut oil, olive oil or leave-in conditioner) to skin and hair to help with powder removal; and participants with longer hair should place it in a bun or ponytail prior to the start of the event.

After completing the run/walk, participants should: brush off loose powder from skin and clothes; use wet wipes, provided by Lakeside Chautauqua staff and volunteers, to clean remaining powder off of skin; brush hair vigorously before jumping into the shower or the lake; rinse hair with cold water once, and then wash normally; and use baking soda and blue Dawn dish soap to assist with cleaning clothes.

For additional information on how to prepare for the color run/walk, visit the Kaleidoscope of Color Run/Walk event page.

There is no registration fee for the Kaleidoscope of Color Run/Walk, but a donation is suggested. Participants may register individually or join together with family and friends as a team to help raise funds for the Lakeside Fund.

A team is a group of five to eight people of all ages. A team’s donation will be tallied together and put towards the Lakeside Fund. The team with the highest donation will be recognized in the Lakesider newspaper this summer.

To register, download the 2015 Kaleidoscope of Color Run/Walk Registration Form. Return the registration form, along with donation, to the Lakeside Chautauqua Foundation, Attn: Jessica Kidd, 236 Walnut Ave., Lakeside, OH 43440.

Race day registration is also available at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 30 at the open field near the William Tennis Campus. Check-in for all participants begins at 9:30 on the day of the event.

An Awards Ceremony, following the run/walk, will begin at 11 a.m. Awards will be given to the Top Finishers in the men and women’s categories, Top Team Fundraisers and for Chautauqua Spirit.

Lakesiders can also get involved in the run/walk by becoming a spectator along the race route, volunteering at the event or giving a donation to the Lakeside Fund.
