Guest Preacher: The Rev. Vernon Shepherd

SHEPHERD-VERN-560The Rev. Vernon Shepherd will serve as guest preacher at the Hoover Community Worship Service over the 2015 Bonus Weekend. His sermon, titled “,” is based on John 3:1-9. Please note that Children’s Church will not be offered this weekend.

In addition to the Hoover Community Worship Service, the Lakeside United Methodist Church will host a service, led by the Rev. Vernon Shepherd, at 9 a.m.

For those who wish to attend worship, a complimentary Church Pass may be obtained 7:30-10:30 a.m. Sunday; valid until 3 p.m. The pass includes admittance for guests and auto.

The Terra Brass Choir will present a special concert for the Lakeside community at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 31 at the Lakeside United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Shepherd currently serves as Pastor of the Lakeside United Methodist Church.

With more than 35 years of ministry experience, the Rev. Shepherd has served congregations at Brecksville, Portage Faith, Lakeview Barberton, among others.

The Rev. Shepherd graduated from Steubenville Franciscan College in Steubenville, Ohio in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy and political science. He earned his Master of Divinity from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio, located in Delaware, Ohio, in 1981.

He is an Elder in the East Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Shepherd is involved with the Center for Action & Contemplation in Albuquerque, N.M., the Iona Community based in Scotland, the Abbey of the Genesee in Piffard, N.Y., Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Communities – North Shore Board in Marblehead, Ohio and the Danbury Ministerial Association also in Marblehead, Ohio.
