How did you hear about Lakeside? One of my friends was an intern last year and she told me she had a great experience and that she fell in love with Lakeside. So I wanted to have that same experience.
What are you most looking forward to this summer? I am looking forward to gain as much experience I can get from this opportunity. And I want to develop great relationships with my fellow interns as well as with my supervisors.
What do you hope to gain from this experience? I want to gain more confidence in my writing and feel more comfortable working on my own.
Name one goal you hope to achieve this summer? I want to practice all the skills that I learned from my classes.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time? I love to play tennis so any free time that I have I try to play. I like to hangout with my friends and just have a good time.
What is one of your proudest moments you have achieved thus far in life? I think that just the fact at being here is an accomplishment for me. Being able to adapt to such a different culture.
What is your dream job? My dream job is to become a reporter for any big newspaper in the country like the New York Times or the Chicago Tribune.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself. I really, really like ketchup! I put it on almost everything. Like rice, sandwiches, or tacos. Some people find this really weird.
Name Noah Manskar

School Ohio Wesleyan University
Major/Minor Journalism and Pre-Law Studies/Women’s and Gender Studies and English
Hometown Nashville, Tennessee
How did you hear about Lakeside? My father has been to Lakeside a couple times for Methodist conferences, but my first trip here was for my LLA interview. Ohio Wesleyan’s Career Services office connected me with the program and a friend of mine who completed the Lakesider internship assured me it was a great experience.
What are you most looking forward to this summer? I’m looking forward to spending the summer in such a beautiful place, and meeting some of the great people who make up this unique community.
What do you hope to gain from this experience? I am hoping to get some additional professional experience before stepping fully into the work force, and to learn more about Chautauquas and their mission.
Name one goal you hope to achieve this summer? I’m planning to move to New York City after completing the LLA program, so my biggest personal and professional goal is to find a journalism job there.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time? I’m an avid skateboarder, so I get out and skate whenever I get a chance. I love reading the news, literary non-fiction and Toni Morrison novels. My college astronomy classes inspired me to look at and learn about the stars, especially in a place like Lakeside where I can see so many of them.
What is one of your proudest moments you have achieved thus far in life? I worked very hard inside and outside the classroom during my college career, so at the moment I’m most proud of earning Summa Cum Laude honors from Ohio Wesleyan.
What is your dream job? I would love to cover the Supreme Court for a major national newspaper, such as the New York Times.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself. My girlfriend and other close friends inspired me to do theater in college, so I performed in three shows and did a lot of behind-the-scenes work.
