IMG_2007A dedication will be held for the miniature golf course at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 20. This will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a group picture. There will be a sign up sheet at the event for those who would like to have the picture emailed to them. Refreshments will also be served.

The miniature golf course has been a family tradition at Lakeside for many years. The course, built in 1963, has been enjoyed by Lakesiders of all ages along Ohio’s Most Beautiful Mile for over 50 years.

Over Memorial Day Weekend, Lakesiders had the chance to make memories on the newly renovated course. The enhancements were made possible through generous support for Lakeside Chautauqua’s second #GivingTuesday on Dec. 2. Lakesiders contributed to various passions around Lakeside to raise $118,000. Families continued to support miniature golf throughout the year.

We thank the Dillon family for challenging Lakesiders with a major gift to encourage the community to support this special project.

The miniature golf course features six new challenges throughout the course that were developed and created offsite over the winter. The obstacles include two loop-de-loops, a skee-ball game, a vortex and a “return to me” feature. A pachinko game was also added, where the putter’s ball is dropped through a series of pegs. A replica of Perry’s Monument was also created and added to the course.

While putting on the mini golf course, you will have the chance to enjoy the new landscaping as well, which includes over 600 plants of 35 varieties, 65 yards of topsoil, 40 yards of mulch, peat moss and boulders.

The beautification of the miniature golf course was made possible by a generous gift in memory of Orel and George Gundlach. The gift supported the landscaping, flowers, material, landscaping blocks and edging.

The generosity also funded the replica of Perry’s Monument in memory of Samuel Gundlach.

Lakeside Chautauqua would like to thank each family that made this project possible through their generous support.

Have you experienced the renovated course? If so, what was your favorite part? What are your thoughts on the renovation? Feel free to also share some of your past memories of playing on the course.
