10th Annual Garden Tour & Lakeside in Bloom Beautification Awards

The Lakeside in Bloom Beautification Awards Program honors those who have worked to promote the overall aesthetic appearance of the grounds. Guests and residents are invited to experience these landscapes on a self-guided Garden Tour.

This year, the 10th Annual Garden Tour will take place over multiple days from Monday, June 29-Thursday, July 2.

From 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, June 29, Lakeside in Bloom Beautification Award winners may be available within their gardens during the self-guided Garden Tour to answer questions. On Tuesday, June 30-Thursday, July 2, attendees are invited to participate in the self-guided tour, but should view gardens from the sidewalk.

Tour attendees may pick up a map of the winning gardens to explore on their own. Maps are available at the gates, Fountain Inn and Hotel Lakeside front desks and the Lakeside Chautauqua Administration Office.

The Beautification Awards recognize four classes, including public, business, feature and residential. Entries are judged by horticulture professionals who evaluate each garden.

The gardens will be judged on the following criteria: plant material, color texture and quality, design and construction, design and hardscape, and unification and overall appearance.

The award classes consist of public gardens, maintained by a group of amateur gardeners for public appreciation; business gardens, maintained on a commercial site by owner; residential gardens, professional or hobbyist; and feature gardens, an area planted and cared for by a hobbyist.

Areas may include features such as formal garden beds, fountains, rock gardens, water garden features, groups of potted plants, unique vegetable gardens or beauty spots.

Award winners in each category will receive certificates. A Judge’s Choice Award will be given. All residents will be considered for this honor. Awards will be distributed prior to the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors performance on Monday, June 29 in Hoover Auditorium.

Once inside Lakeside Chautauqua, there is no additional fee to attend the self-guided Garden Tour. A special pass to enter Lakeside for the Garden Tour on Monday, June 29 only is available for $10. This pass includes an Auto Pass.

To attend the tour from Tuesday, June 30-Thursday, July 2, a Partial Day Chautauqua Pass is available for $6.75, valid for three hours. This does not include an Auto Pass.
