With a passion for helping people deepen their relationship with God and a rich educational experience, the Rev. Amy Miracle will provide the message as Preacher of the Week from July 19-24. This week’s Preacher of the Week program is supported by the Knobel Family Endowment.
Why is there so much suffering? What happens after people die? These are examples of questions the Rev. Miracle examines in the context of faith.
Throughout her calling, she has felt that church should be the place where individuals get to ask those tough questions and explore answers.
A life-long Presbyterian, the Rev. Miracle grew up in Dayton, Ohio and attended Princeton University. She studied in Northern Ireland and earned her Master of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York City.
The Rev. Miracle held positions as Associate Pastor at Central Presbyterian Church in Denver, Colo., and Senior Pastor and head of staff at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Des Moines, Iowa, before coming to Broad Street Presbyterian in Columbus, Ohio.
At the 10:30 a.m. Hoover Community Worship Service on Sunday, July 19, the Rev. Miracle will preach on the teachings of Jesus in Matthew 5:38-48. She will weave in the story of 2 Corinthians 4:5-12: “Remember, our message, is not about ourselves; we’re proclaiming Jesus Christ.”
Her sermon, titled “Perfect,” is one that will spark deeper conversation on the question of evil and suffering.
During the week, she will also provide the message at 9:15 a.m. Monday-Thursday during Faith for Living Hour in Orchestra Hall.
At 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, the Rev. Miracle will lead the Vespers by the Lake service, held at the Steele Memorial Bandstand in Central Park.
For those who wish to attend worship, a complimentary Church Pass may be obtained from 7:30-10:30 a.m. Sunday; valid until 3 p.m. The pass includes admittance for guests and auto.
