Staff Blogger: Alexandrea Stelzer, Director of Marketing

Raccoon RunWalkers, joggers and runners of all ages will take to the streets of Lakeside Chautauqua at 8 a.m. Sunday, July 26 for the 35th Annual 5k Raccoon Run and one-mile Fun Run. The one-mile Fun Run begins at 8 a.m., followed by the 5k Raccoon Run at 8:30 a.m.

Both events start at Orchestra Hall, located on the corner of Walnut Avenue and Second Street. The race course winds through Lakeside and will end on Third Street, in front of Hoover Auditorium. Some street intersections will be barricaded during both events.

The Raccoon Run is one of Lakeside Chautauqua’s most popular annual recreation events. In fact, some runners who boast having run the 5k for more than 20 years have collectible T-shirts to prove it.

To participate, download and return the 5k Raccoon Run Information & Registration Form at www.lakesideohio.com/calendar. Registration forms are also available at the Lakeside Chautauqua Administration Office.

Registration is $18 per individual (with a T-shirt) and $7 (without a T-shirt). Race-day registrants must arrive at Chautauqua Hall before 7:30 a.m. on the day of the Raccoon Run.

The Awards Ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. in Orchestra Hall, following the race.

Trophies for the 5k run will be awarded to the Top Overall Male and Female Finishers. Medals are also given to the top three runners in each age category, for both males and females.
