Lakeside Chautauqua welcomes the Rev. Karen M. Oehl as guest preacher on Sunday, Aug. 30.
The Rev. Oehl will lead the 10:30 a.m. Hoover Community Worship Service on Sunday, Aug. 30 in Hoover Auditorium. Her sermon, titled “For Everything a Season,” is based on Ecclesiastes 3:9-15 and John 4:34-38.
For those who wish to attend the Hoover Community Worship Service, a complimentary Church Pass may be obtained 7:30-10:30 a.m. Sunday; valid until 3 p.m. The pass includes admittance for guests and auto.
The Rev. Oehl currently serves as the District Superintendent of the Mid-Ohio District of the East Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church (UMC) in Mansfield, Ohio. She was appointed to this position in 2011.
She has also worked as pastor of Marshallville/Easton United Methodist Charge in Marshallville, Ohio; Apple Creek UMC in Apple Creek, Ohio; and Brecksville UMC in Brecksville, Ohio.
Throughout her career, the Rev. Oehl has also served on many committees and boards, including the Education, Strategy and Superintendency Committees of the Wooster UMC; Camps Commission Executive Committee of the East Ohio Conference; and to the Board of Trustees at the Methodist School of Theology.
She has also participated in mission trips to Cuba and Costa Rica, among other locations.
The Rev. Oehl received a bachelor’s degree from the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio and her Master of Divinity degree from Methodist Theological School in Ohio, located in Delaware, Ohio.
She and her husband, Christopher, are the parents of two grown children – Kirsten, director of the Student Intern Program at Hartwick College in Oneonta, N.Y., and Maren, a social studies teacher in Chicago, Ill.
