Lakeside Chautauqua is a summer community for families of all sizes located on the Lake Erie shore. It’s a unique place to bring family and friends to enjoy the same sustaining values and traditions learned as a child. Since 1873, Lakeside has provided a summer Chautauqua experience dedicated to spiritual growth and renewal, educational and cultural enrichment, and recreational pursuits.

Lakeside Chautauqua was among the first communities founded as part of the Chautauqua Movement in the U.S. and was originally established as a religious retreat committed to continuing education. A Chautauqua is a community welcoming all people to gather and participate in lifelong learning opportunities through the four pillars: religion, education, cultural arts and recreation.

Scholarship Purpose
In the biblical tradition, keeping Sabbath is essential to maintaining a relationship with God. A time of renewal for clergy is energizing and an important part of maintaining the commitment, passion and skills to focus on ministry. Lakeside believes that the Ohio United Methodist Clergy Renewal Scholarship will deepen the spiritual lives of clergy, encouraging reflection, rest, renewal and clarity for life and work. The scholarship provides up to four overnight stays at the Fountain Inn. The scholarship can’t be used between Memorial Day through Labor Day each year.

Scholarship Eligibility
A clergyperson who is a member of the East or West Ohio United Methodist Church Conference is eligible to apply for the scholarship. The scholarship will be applied directly to Fountain Inn  accommodations at Lakeside Chautauqua.

To Apply
To apply for the Ohio United Methodist Clergy Renewal Scholarship, please complete the application form and return it to: Lakeside Chautauqua, Attn: Ohio United Methodist Clergy Renewal Scholarship, 236 Walnut Ave., Lakeside, Ohio 43440.
