Lakeside Chautauqua is returning to Columbus, Ohio this weekend to partner with other Lake Erie Shores & Islands attractions at the AAA Great Vacations Expo. The expo will take place from Friday, Jan. 22-Sunday, Jan. 24 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
Visit with Lakeside staff members at the Lake Erie Shores & Islands’ booth to learn about what’s in store for the 2016 Chautauqua summer season.
While you’re there, visit with other partners, including Cedar Point Amusement Park, Goodtime Lake Erie Island Cruises, Jet Express, Kelleys Island Chamber of Commerce, Lake Erie Shores & Islands, Miller Boat Line, Perry’s Victory & International Peace Memorial, Put-in-Bay Winery, Retreat at Water’s Edge, City of Sandusky and Port Clinton Chamber of Commerce/Main Street Port Clinton to plan an unforgettable vacation to the lake.
Over the weekend, there’ll be several travel experts and bands from across the country hitting the AAA Travel Stage.
Want to make travel easier and more enjoyable for your family? Don’t miss your chance to hear from packing expert, Anne McAlpin, on Friday at 1 and 4 p.m. She’ll share her best packing tips, checklists and more.
On Friday and Saturday, the expo will feature music by The Mastertones. Hailing from Galax, Va., this talented bluegrass band highlights the musical heritage of the Blue Ridge Mountains. In between the band’s performances, they’ll host a meet and greet in the Virginia Tourism booth.
Kids Day will take place all day Saturday with a variety of fun activities and great travel ideas for the entire family. Explore each booth and participate in the “Passport for Prizes” activity to enter to win a Trafalgar 8-day “Pioneer Adventures of the Old West” family vacation.
Also on Saturday, the hilarious cast of the Amish Country Theater will give a glimpse of what you can expect to see on your next trip to Ohio’s Amish Country. Don’t miss their show at 1 p.m.
As the day continues, The Wayfarers will entertain the crowd with their high-energy Appalachian music at 3 p.m. This Southeast Ohio band’s sound includes rich harmonies, fiddle playing and bluegrass music of the 1920s, all wrapped into a contemporary and fun performance.
To conclude the expo on Sunday, the Travel Channel’s hottest star, Samantha Brown, will speak at 1 p.m. She’ll share behind-the-scenes stories of her time at the Travel Channel and her top picks for memorable excursions.
