Meet the 2017 Conference and Event Planning Intern, Layne Archer.

Name: Layne Archer
Hometown: Zanesville, OH
College: Marietta College
Major: Organizational Communication

How did you hear about Lakeside, or what is your Lakeside story? I had never been to Lakeside before last month. I attended a job fair in Columbus, OH and met Emily Messino and learned all about Lakeside and I decided to apply for the position!

What are you most looking forward to this summer at Lakeside? I’m looking forward to learning a lot about the conference and event planning, meeting new people, making new connections, and of course enjoying all the fun activities Lakeside has to offer. *Also, the beautiful sunsets every night!*

What do you hope to gain from this experience? I hope to gain a full understanding of everything conference and event planning related. I’m in hopes that my experience here will lead me to something great by the end of the summer.

Name one goal you hope to achieve this summer? My main goal is to have a full-time job related to event planning by the end of the summer, so I am prepared to take the next step in my career when my internship here is completed.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time? I love riding my bike, sight-seeing and exploring, swimming, boating, and eating ice cream!

What is one of your proudest moments or major accomplishments you have achieved thus far in life? One of my proudest accomplishments thus far is playing 4 years of college soccer at Marietta College. I was named team captain my senior year, which gave me the opportunity to lead my team to one of the best seasons the program has had in almost 10 years. Dedication and hard work really does pay off!

What is your dream job? My dream job is to do something I love and enjoy, at a company with a great employee climate and good customer relations. Event planning with all of this would be at the top of my list!

Tell us a fun fact about you. I was recently chosen for “Find the Cow in the Crowd” at a Pittsburgh Pirates game. I successfully located the cow, made it on the Jumbo-Tron, and won 10 free sandwich gift cards to Chick-Fila. Best. Day. Ever.
