How did you hear about Lakeside, or what is your Lakeside story?

I heard about Lakeside for the first time at a Career Fest in Columbus, OH. Even though I have lived in such close proximity my entire life, I never knew a community like this existed.

What are you most looking forward to this summer at Lakeside?

I’m looking forward to the relationships and doing what I love. On the first day of my internship, my supervisor and I discussed the different things I’d be doing this summer and it pumped anticipation into my heart and energizing my mind for this summer. I’m excited to get to know this community in such a personal way. I want to see you and know you; whether you’ve been here your entire life or this is your first year. I want to join you and help create wonderful memories with you.

What do you hope to gain from this experience?

I want to grow as a person. When I first learned of this position, I applied because it was an opportunity to do what I love, to get experience, while still raising money for my study abroad semester in Costa Rica. But then I began my research into Lakeside, what they stood for, what their values and vision are. I realized this was going to be so much more than photography or creating videos. This is what I love; encouraging and nurturing others, loving others, while using the creative gifts I was given.

Name one goal you hope to achieve this summer:

I want to continue to expand and better my portfolio. My personal project in the fall of 2017 was an online portfolio. I finished it in December, but ever since, I have not been able to work on it. A portfolio is never done until you are and I’m not done yet.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I enjoy personal projects; whether that’s reading, painting or photography. I read about a variety of different topics, both fiction and non-fiction. I have found as a creative it is imperative for me to have personal projects both to keep me interested in my work and to expand my knowledge and understanding of my craft. It’s important for me to keep my work fun. Now, relaxation lies with nature, specifically animals and plants. I love to hear the way of trees from the wind and the birdsong. And dogs. Love those, too.

What is one of your proudest moments or major accomplishments you have achieved thus far in life?

A proud moment for me is seeing that my hard work over the years to better myself and my craft has come to fruition. I’m seeing good work being done through my hands and it leaves me excited that I”m doing good work.

What is your dream job?

My dream job is when everything I have worked towards comes to fruition. I’m not there yet, but once I reach that moment of, “This is it. This is what I have studied and worked for. This is where I’m meant to be,” is where my dream job lies. Until then, I’m going to trust God’s got it and He’ll never let me down.

Tell us a fun fact about you.

I’m adventurous. I always want to experience something new. I’m also an ambivert, which means I fall into the middle of the extrovert/introvert personality spectrum.
