How did you hear about Lakeside, or what is your Lakeside story? All throughout middle and high school, I traveled with my church youth group to Lakeside for Labor Day weekend. From Friday night to Monday afternoon, we would wake way too early for sunrises, eat far too many donuts, buy too much clothing and have the perfect amount of devotionals all over the grounds. I always came home with such amazing memories of this place and I’m incredibly excited to spend more than three days here.
What are you most looking forward to this summer at Lakeside? As cheesy as it sounds, I’m really looking forward to meeting people. I found that by going to such a small university, it is easy to meet people and become so familiar with the campus. I feel as though that will translate to this summer at Lakeside. I hope to meet people, get to know the grounds and learn to love this place as much as I love my school.
What do you hope to gain from this experience? I really hope to gain not only new relationships, but also general work experience. In the past, I’ve written for organizations I know well and for people I know. This is a great step out of my comfort zone to meet new people, make new memories and gain real world experience.
Name one goal you hope to achieve this summer. I’d like to learn to put my phone down more. During the school year I always stretch myself thin by scheduling things back-to-back, depending on my phone on where to go next, who to contact and more. Now, I’d love to learn how to look around me and not immediately resort to my phone. I want to watch a sunrise without staring at a screen.
What are some of your hobbies and what do you enjoy doing in your free time? I’m a big outdoors person, so I adore horseback riding, running, photographing and hiking. Oppositely, I love a good lazy day watching an unhealthy amount of movies, napping and baking.
What is one of your proudest moments or major accomplishments you have achieved thus far in life? In the past two years of me being captain of my university’s equestrian team, we have grown from six members to over 40, competed against nationally ranked schools and have a solid riding program for our students. This in itself was such a proud accomplishment of mine, but just last month Ohio Wesleyan recognized us as the organization of the year.
What is your dream job? I enjoy studying media production because I can work anywhere where my interests lie. Whether it is for an equine organization, a film magazine or an environmental company, I have the potential to be there. One day I would love to produce content for outdoors organizations like L.L. Bean, REI or the National Parks Service.
Tell us a fun fact about you. I manage a photography business where I take photos for graduating seniors, weddings, newborn babies and more.
