Perry Park Playground to receive major upgrade for 2021!

Thanks to the support of generous Lakesiders, final enhancements and renovations are taking place in a beloved space of our community, Perry Park.

Enhancements began last fall with the installation of two large grills to accommodate the growing crowds at the Wednesday Family Picnics. The addition of these grills was made possible by the Sypherd family who donated them in memory of Jacqueline Sypherd. Additionally, a paved area for the grills was added, old picnic tables were refurbished and new picnic tables were purchased.

Professional surveying of the park and engineering services have also taken place, and along the lakefront, significant revetment work has been completed to strengthen the eastern shoreline and mitigate erosion.

NEW! Perry Park play structure

Another exciting upgrade to Perry Park is a new inclusive playground designed by Midstates Recreation specifically for Lakeside.

The new playground features an Aeroglider, slide, wheelchair ramps and barriers, two climbers, several activity panels, mounted bells, telescope, anywhere seat and custom, slip-resistant, poured in place (PIP) surfacing.

The existing playground will be removed this fall, and a new water and irrigation system will be added in the park. The installment of the new playground equipment will start this fall and be completed in the spring, as well as the addition of new plantings along Ohio’s Most Beautiful Mile to enhance the space.

These special enhancements to Perry Park have been made possibly through the generous support of the Mark & Jane Grindley Family. Mark and Jane continue to focus their support on improving areas of Lakeside to be accessible for all to enjoy.
