Lakeside is home to a wide variety of restaurants and dining options. Fantastic food and friendlier service are the things that define a meal here at our beautiful Chautauqua. Whether you’re craving chicken salad, a hot donut, a juicy cheeseburger or a hot dog, you can find it here!

Coffee & CreamIMG_8347

Coffee & Cream is best known for its two title items – coffee and ice cream – but this little spot also has a great selection of lunch style meals. Those Lakesiders who want a good cold cut sandwich, wrap, salad or baked good will find exactly what they need here. Light and healthy options are what Coffee & Cream specializes in when it comes to food. Stroll down Walnut Avenue and try it out – it’s right across from The Fine Print bookstore.

Established in 2006, this 1950s style diner is a family-owned business featuring a variety of light meals and snacks. Dockside is home to classics like corndogs, macaroni & cheese and shredded chicken sandwiches. To keep the hungry Lakesider in mind, this restaurant has added a Reuben Panini, Philly Cheesesteak and Buffalo Chicken Wrap based on feedback they’ve received. Dockside is located – where else – beside the dock and behind the mini-golf course.

Hotel Lakeside Dining Room & CaféScreen Shot 2016-05-27 at 1.28.09 PM

A bit of a more formal (but casual) ambiance, the Hotel Lakeside Dining Room & Café sits on the first floor of the Hotel Lakeside with a beautiful view of the lake. There is a wide variety of options here, including salads, perch sandwich, grilled salmon, Angus burger, filet mignon and prime rib. The air-conditioned dining room also features a children’s menu and quality, healthy food, as well as special dinner options on Fridays and Saturdays. A Sunday Brunch Buffet is available from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m., which includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, fruit, muffins, salad, meat carving station, and much more.

Lakeside will be welcoming a food truck onto its grounds, and owner Jim Gippert is a pastor on a mission. He strives to connect with people from all walks of life through his restaurant and food truck’s hand-made, passion-filled, barbecue cuisine. With classics like smoked brisket, pulled pork, smoked ham & cheese, baked beans and macaroni & cheese, Jimmy G’s is sure to satisfy. More barbecue options will be available at dinnertime. Look for the big, bold, barbecue truck this week, south of the Hotel Lakeside where there will be picnic tables and seating.

Food Court located on Walnut Avenue

For a quick lunch in between sessions, head over to the business district on Walnut avenue. Dockside, Ooh La La!, Sloopy’s Sports Café, Coffee & Cream and the United Methodist Men will be set up and ready to serve from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Wednesday. To check out the food options available, download the food court menu.

Ooh La La!

For some of the best chicken salad on the peninsula, stop by Ooh La La!, located between Maple and Walnut Avenues on Second Street. This restaurant showcases fresh, healthy food for everyone, including vegetarian, dairy and gluten sensitive diets. Other than chicken salad, Ooh La La! features egg salad, baked goods and salads – available in boxed lunches for on-the-go Lakesiders. If that wasn’t enough, they satisfy any sweet tooth. Longtime Lakesiders and staff members alike rave about their sugar cookies, cinnamon rolls, gelato and smoothies.

The Patio Restaurant

The Patio Restaurant has been a Lakeside staple for more than 50 years. It’s a casual, family restaurant caddy corner to Coffee & Cream. The Patio prides itself on its freshly made burgers and donuts. It’s also a great spot to eat outside – the Patio is home to a huge (you guessed it) patio. This spot is easy to find, not only because of the patio, but because of the smell of donuts wafting down the street.

sloopysSloopy’s Sports Café

Sloopy’s Sports Café is one of the community’s favorite places to grab a slice of pizza. Unfortunately, because of an off-season fire, Sloopy’s dining room is not yet open. However, the kitchen is operating and ready to make carry-out pizzas. Stop in or call (419) 798-4457.

Whistle Stop

All this food is great, but what’s a day in Lakeside without ice cream? The Whistle Stop is cozied in the same building as the beauty salon, ready to serve Toft’s hand-dipped ice cream, freshly made popcorn and other sweet treats. The old fashioned atmosphere takes its guests back a few years and is ready to welcome new faces with a big scoop on a waffle cone.
