How did you hear about Lakeside, or what is your Lakeside story?

I first heard about Lakeside at a career fair in Columbus. I was really impressed with the wide variety of communication-related internships available. I looked into the organization further, and after seeing the pillars and core values, decided this was something I really wanted to be apart of. I applied and was thrilled to get the internship!

What are you most looking forward to this summer at Lakeside?

I’m most looking forward to growing professionally and personally. I’m so grateful to be surrounded by such upbeat and motivated individuals as well as programs and activities that are designed to strengthen and empower core facets of your being. I’m also looking forward to the strong sense of community and inclusiveness at Lakeside.

What do you hope to gain from this experience?

I hope to leave Lakeside with a renewed sense of self and pride in what the department accomplishes. I also am excited to gain experience working at a nonprofit and with a diverse group of people. I also look forward to bettering my written communication skills by writing blog posts and assisting with the newspaper.

Name one goal you hope to achieve this summer.

This summer I hope to become more tech-savvy and improve my written and oral communications skills.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I love the outdoors; I very much enjoy hiking, rollerblading, kayaking and running. I also used to be on the swim team, so I enjoy swimming as well. I also like listening to music and spending time with friends and family.

What is one of your proudest moments or major accomplishments you have achieved thus far in life?

One of my proudest moments was creating a 30-minute podcast for a final project. It was for a Writing and the Web course and the podcast went on my blog. I interviewed some really interesting people, conducted a lot of research, and spent an ample amount of time editing it. I was really proud of how it turned out.

What is your dream job?

My dream job is to work at a nonprofit that furthers environmental/sustainability initiatives. I would love to do PR, public outreach, and/or grant writing for an organization that is working to improve the environment.

Tell us a fun fact about you.

When I was in 4th grade I found out that the tooth fairy, Easter Bunny and Santa Clause weren’t real all at the same time. I locked myself in a closet and called my grandma on the phone just to make sure. I was crushed.
