Did you know that Lakeside Chautauqua’s Hotel Lakeside has been named ‘Best Hotel Room View’ on the 2014 Best of Ohio Reader’s Ballot from Ohio Magazine? The waterfront hotel, built in 1875, features a beautiful wrap-around porch, showcasing the most dramatic views of Lake Erie and the islands. Many Lakesiders enjoy this peaceful setting to reconnect with friends, relax with a good book or end the day with a sunset.

WHAT IS ‘CHAUTAUQUA?’ ‘Chautauqua’ represents a community that welcomes all people to gather and participate in lifelong learning opportunities through four pillars: religion, education, cultural arts and recreation.   LAKESIDE & THE CHAUTAUQUA MOVEMENT Established in 1873, Lakeside was among the first communities founded as part of the Chautauqua Movement in North America, a cultural and educational movement that flourished during the 19th and 20th centuries.

Lakeside’s programming is built upon the four pillars of Chautauqua: religion, education, arts and recreation. The religion pillar is administered in Lakeside Chautauqua’s Religious Life Department, overseeing a number of programs and activities, including Sunday Worship Services, Chaplain’s Hour, Evening Prayer & Praise, Children’s ministries (Children’s Church, God Squad, Middle Grade Madness, Teen Connect and College Station), Interfaith Week and the Wednesday Night Family Picnic. Watch your children smile at Grindley Playground, spend an afternoon on miniature golf course, learn to play shuffleboard, compete in a sand volleyball match, dribble down the basketball courts, plan a picnic in the park or take a stroll along Ohio’s Most Beautiful Mile. To open the official Chautauqua season, Grammy-winning fiddler, Natalie MacMaster, will be joined onstage by her husband, Donnell Leahy, and their family on Saturday, June 21.
