Staff Blogger: Gretchen Colón, Vice President of Advancement & Communications   Dear Friends, Each summer, I sit in the yellow rack at the Miniature Golf Hut waiting to roll around on the putting greens. I have been rolling around on the greens for 51 years. That’s right, miniature golf is a long-time family tradition at Lakeside Chautauqua. It’s amazing to see the families reconnect, enjoy the slow pace and share in youthful fun at Lakeside. The adults are very competitive, trying to get me in the hole on…

Staff Blogger: Gretchen Colón, Vice President of Advancement & Communications   Cold winter days are when people dream the unexpected and begin to plan for the spectacular. Most likely, one stays inside near a warm fire; a perfect place to dream on those chilly, winter days. Lakeside’s history began on one of those very days more than 140 years ago. Thanks to the generosity year in and year out of so many Lakesiders, thousands of families and individuals have visited, recharged and renewed their spirit along the Lake Erie…

An Overnight in Charming Lakeside Chautauqua, OH Lakeside Chautauqua, Ohio is situated on the southern shore of Lake Erie. Back in 1873, a group of Methodist preachers came to this idyllic locale, set up some benches and pitched their tents, and “raised the praise” in what later became Lakeside Chautauqua.   Initially purposed to train Sunday School teachers, it expanded to become a summertime family resort. The idea of a Chautauqua is a retreat setting that combines worship and Bible study with intellectual, creative and cultural enrichment, peaceful…

Guest Blogger: Cheryl Harner Travel is the best way to experience the vast wonders of nature, and I have done my share. The verdant forests of West Virginia, the rocky mountains of Colorado, and the breath-taking vistas from Big Sur California, each are special for their own unique flora and fauna. Nothing annoys a plant enthusiast more than golf-course grass in the middle of a dessert or palm trees in Nevada! Seriously, we should travel to experience each unique location, not to visit some homogenization of landscape or…
