This month the Lakeside Chautauqua staff would like to take a moment to thank and recognize the impact that volunteers make in the community and how they bring the Lakeside mission to life.              

Staff Blogger: Melissa Kunz, Content Manager   The leaves have finally fallen, and November has officially arrived in Lakeside. The air has gotten cooler, and everyone is busy preparing for family gatherings on Thanksgiving. As you prepare your Thanksgiving menus, members of our staff would like to share some of their favorite holiday recipes with you over the next few weeks. Together, we will all have a delicious and well spent Thanksgiving holiday.

Lakeside Chautauqua invites you and your family to the Community Christmas Dinner at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 in Wesley Lodge. The evening will include a punch reception and visit from Santa Claus at 5:30 p.m., dinner buffet at 6:15 p.m. and live entertainment with children’s singer-songwriter Chip Richter at 6:45 p.m. The Christmas dinner buffet will feature boneless pork medallion, baked chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, creamed corn, stuffing, water, coffee and punch. For many, Lakeside has been a cherished place for more than 140 years. Suzanne Bond’s grandfather, the Rev. Charles Bennett, began the family’s Lakeside tradition. He was a long-time Lakesider. Whether the Bond family is walking along Ohio’s Most Beautiful Mile or attending Hoover Auditorium programs, they are creating lasting memories, just as many others do at this special place.

Taking place on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, #GivingTuesday harnesses the collective power of non-profits, families, business and individuals to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season. To celebrate this day of giving, Lakeside is introducing an initiative that supports the Chautauqua pillar of recreation. Staff Blogger: Gretchen Colón, Vice President of Advancement & Communications Dear Friends, I’m back again, and I’ve been talking with my dear friend, Putter, about #GivingTuesday. I have some oh so exciting news to share with you. First, Putter didn’t know anything about this national giving movement. I told with him that #GivingTuesday is a day for giving back. Around Thanksgiving there are 2 days for getting great deals while shopping (Black Friday and Cyber Monday), and right afterwards, there is a day for giving back (#GivingTuesday).
