While the gated Chautauqua season at Lakeside comes to an end after Labor Day, there are many exciting events in all four pillars planned throughout the year. This fall is packed with events for the whole family, including live music, recreation, Rhein Center classes, worship services, movies, shopping, dining and more!


Girl Named Tom – Sept. 10

Girl Named Tom highlights the fall lineup with a concert in Hoover Auditorium on Saturday, Sept. 10. The talented sibling trio of Bekah, Joshua and Caleb Liechty won NBC’s “The Voice” just a few months after performing in Lakeside last year. Tickets are on sale now for $30 per person. Adults, youth and children, regardless of age, are required to purchase a ticket.

Rooms are available at Hotel Lakeside and the Fountain Inn to plan a fall weekend getaway. Standard rooms start at $149 for one night and $249 for two nights. To make a reservation, call 419-798-4461, ext. 230 and ask for the ‘Girl Named Tom Hotel Package.’

Discover Music in Lakeside with BGSU – Sept. 11

Join members of the Doctoral Music Program at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) for a special concert along the waterfront at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11 at the Steele Memorial Bandstand.

The program features works by both classical and contemporary composers, including Bach, Britten, Summer and more. The ensemble includes Keri Lee Pierson (vocals), Garrett Evans (saxophone), Shannon Lotti (flute), Anthony Marchese (cello) and Rachel Constantino (horn).

Admission to the concert is free, and donations are graciously accepted to support BGSU’s doctoral students. In the case of inclement weather, the concert will be held in Orchestra Hall.

Lakeside Art Walk & Night Market – Sept. 17

In partnership with Ohio Art Festivals, Lakeside will host its first Art Walk & Night Market from 12-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17.

Stroll through the charming streets of Lakeside and the downtown business district to browse and purchase unique pieces of art, meet the talented artists, and gain a deeper appreciation for the local art scene. The Art Walk & Night Market will showcase the work of artists, potters, woodworkers, jewelry makers, glass artists, quilters, soap makers and more.

This new event for the whole family also features a variety of food options and live entertainment throughout the day on Walnut Plaza. Stay late to see the downtown area illuminated in lights.

Finding Your Way Chautauqua Workshop – Sept. 23 & 24

The Finding Your Way Chautauqua Workshop, led by Dr. Deforia Lane and Michael Shirtz, takes place Sept. 23-24. This workshop focuses on centering one’s soul, health and wellness through the power of music and creativity. Uncover a pathway to healing, hope and renewal and learn the tools to help engage with your family, colleagues and co-workers, and most importantly, yourself.

Lane is the Associate Director of the Seidman Cancer Center and Director of Music Therapy at University Hospitals of Cleveland, Seidman Cancer Center and Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. Shirtz is a singer, producer, composer, conductor, vocal coach and music director for educational, repertory theatre, collegiate and pops music productions View the schedule and reserve your spot for this two-day workshop.

Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival – Oct. 8

The 26th Annual Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival will take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8. This peninsula-wide event includes fun for the whole family with live entertainment, children’s games and crafts, a pumpkin-decorating contest, arts & crafts vendors, farmers’ market, hayrides, tours of the Marblehead Lighthouse (celebrating its 200th Anniversary) and much more.

Book a weekend getaway at either Hotel Lakeside or the Fountain Inn for $269 plus tax for two nights, Friday, Oct. 7 and Saturday, Oct. 8. Some favorite Lakeside activities will be available every Saturday through Oct. 8. Here’s a look at the schedule:

– Miniature golf – 12-4 p.m., $3.50 per player, no cost for children 5 & under
– Williams Tennis Campus – Open all day, bring your own equipment
– Hubbard Pickleball Center – Open all day, bring your own equipment
– Shuffleboard – 12-4 p.m., equipment provided

Children, teens and families can also play on the basketball and sand volleyball courts, discover the parks and playgrounds across the grounds, and challenge each other to lawn games along Walnut Plaza.

Fall Fitness Class: Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga classes will take place from 10-11 a.m. Saturdays from Sept. 10-Nov. 19 in the Wellness Center – Drackett Hall. Please note that the Sept. 24 class will be held in the Train Station and the Oct. 22 class will take place in the Fountain Inn – Aigler Room.

To participate in the class, please purchase a Fall Fitness Class Pass for $90/person at the Lakeside Chautauqua Administration Office, located at 236 Walnut Ave., or pay a $10/class drop-in fee (cash only) at the Wellness Center prior to the start of class.

Chair Yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is especially suited for those who prefer not to be down on the floor. All yoga exercises and postures will be done seated in a chair or standing, using the chair to aid with support and balance.

Fitness Room

From Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022 – Thursday, May 25, 2023, the Fitness Room will be available to use for homeowners from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. daily. Those who purchase a subscription through the Lakeside Chautauqua Administration Office will be granted an electronic fob that will unlock the doors to the Wellness Center during open hours. Previous subscribers who already have a fob may reactivate their membership through the Administration Office as well. Although the Wellness Center will not be staffed, Security will be on the grounds.

2022/23 Fitness Room Subscription Costs

– Per month: $28
– Per weekend: $12 (Friday, Saturday & Sunday)
– Per day: $8
– Discounted price for all 9 months: $200

A one-time fee of $7 plus tax covers the price of the electronic fob. For those who kept their fob from a previous year, no additional fee will be assessed. Tax will be added to all chargers. Admit only one user per fob/access plan. Sharing of fobs is not permitted. Every Sunday through Oct. 9, a Community Worship Service (Are we calling it a community worship service?) will be held at the Steele Memorial Bandstand at 10:30 a.m. Led by the Rev. Karen Graham and organized by the Lakeside United Methodist Church, this service offers a vibrant style of worship using inspirational songs and motivational words. The service will move to Lakeside UMC, located at 650 Central Ave., if there is inclement weather and after Oct. 9.

Centering Prayer is available via Zoom every Thursday throughout the off-season at 8 a.m. After a brief devotional reading, participants will sit in quiet prayer followed by a time of reflection. You can access Centering Prayer by visiting



The Rhein Center offers an Open Studio Saturdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. through Oct. 1. All ages are invited to decorate a wooden or ceramic item with paint, markers or stickers. No class registration required.

In addition to Open Studio hours, take art classes on weekends throughout the fall. Projects include fused class, crochet, holiday-inspired crafts, and much more. To view the schedule of classes, visit



Trivia Night continues Mondays at 5 p.m. throughout the off-season, except Dec. 26 and Jan. 2. Gather friends and family, bring along your favorite snacks and rack your brain with fun facts, laughter and more.

John Mann is Lakeside’s quizmaster as the games will continue on Walnut Plaza as long as weather permits. During the cold winter months, trivia will move to either the Slack House or the Aigler Room in the Fountain Inn. Check for location updates.



A select number of businesses – shops, restaurants, services and bed & breakfasts/guest houses – are open on fall weekends until the Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival on Saturday, Oct. 8. Road Construction

State Route 163 Roundabout Construction may cause delays and detours to your trip to Lakeside. Check out the alternate route to avoid construction and allow extra time for travel.

Off-Season Gate Hours

After Labor Day, a Chautauqua Pass is not required to enter the Lakeside grounds. If you’re in Lakeside, please note the following gate hours:

– Fifth Street Gate will be accessible 24 hours
– East/West Second St. & Cedar Ave. Gates close 9 p.m.-6 a.m.
– East Fourth St. and South Gates close at approximately 11 p.m.-6 a.m.
